"Garden Party", oil on board, 6 x 8 inches
I call this piece "Garden Party" because it looks like a these flowers are at a party talking amongst one another and having a jolly good time. I painted this en plein air in one sitting with quick, loose brushwork. I was so captured by the breeze fluttering the sweet lavender petals.
Claire you know your flowers. I couldn't remember the name of these until you said coeopsis and that sounds right. They are very delicate and flutter in the breeze - so sweet!
Lyn, these flowers are done so well. I really like it when a plein aire artist can narrow down a subject to paint. I often forget that. Really nice painting.
I am the owner of Art & Soul Gallery in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania. My works and 35 other local area artists works are exhibited and available for sale at the gallery. Contact the gallery at 717-761-1270. We are located on the second floor of the West Shore Farmer's Market. Please visit and consider the beautiful original works by Central Pennsylvania artists.
After a career in business, I couldn't shake a lifelong desire to create art. In 2003 I began this wonderful journey of painting and sculpting. There is so much to learn and always new ways to improve and grow as an artist. In my small way, I hope to show the glory of God all around us.
Beautiful, Lyn. These look like pink coeopsis, and you have captured their delicasy perfectly.
ReplyDeleteIt does look like a party. Similar to the wonderful Grand Re-Opening Reception at your gallery on Friday evening. Congratulations!

ReplyDeleteThanks Mary Beth, it was a good time and I'm glad you could make it. Hope you enjoyed yourself and met several other artists.
